Your first two appointments will be 1-hour sessions. The first appointment entails an exam and evaluation. During the second visit, our physician will, confirm and/or determine a diagnosis. If a diagnosis of fibromyalgia is confirmed, you and the physician will meet weekly for a 30 minute appointment for approximately 8-12 weeks. These visits typically include:

  • Pain management for fibromyalgia
  • Trigger point or tender point injections
  • Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT)
  • Assessment for physical therapy
  • Referrals to massage therapy
  • Nutritional counseling as needed
  • Assessment and/or management for behavioral health medications and counseling
  • Review of sleep, hygiene, prescription medications, nutritional supplements, diet protocol, exercise, mental health and habit cessation support

When the initial 8-12 week fibromyalgia rehabilitation phase is complete, your physician will continue an ongoing relationship with you as often as your care plan determines; most patients are seen once a month, on an ongoing basis, to maintain your optimal state of wellness.

Patient Expectations

You are encouraged to call your health insurance to obtain benefit information for all services performed by our physicians including manipulations and trigger point injections.

Every insurance plan is different, so we ask patients to be responsible for keeping track of their benefits and how many manipulations and trigger point injections they have had and how many they are allowed. For patients who exceed the allowable number or do not have insurance coverage for manipulations or trigger point injections, there is a private pay charge available of $50.00 per service, payable at time of service.

Because we are a small clinic, it is necessary to put policies in place that allow us to continue to be available for our fibromyalgia community. With that in mind, we ask that all office visit copays and any outstanding balances be paid at the time of your appointment. We are unable to carry any balances on your account.

Because Dr. Keays and PA Somich put a sole focus on treating fibromyalgia, you must have a primary care physician, who will continue to treat all your primary care needs. We do not provide on-call, emergency or urgent care services.

Commitment

Our commitment to you is to provide the best, most appropriate, care to each and every patient. We strive to improve the health and overall sense of well-being in all our patients. We ask in return a commitment of openness to try new ideas, a willingness to partner with us in developing your care plan and to keep hope as we move through this journey together.
